The book aims to summarise the technical steps of several difficult, complex and lesser-known minimally invasive surgery (MIS) resections in cancer. It serves as an extensive practical resource for a surgeon interested in MIS for cancer. An accompanying approximately 8 min narrated video with each chapter demonstrates the personal techniques and innovations used by the author.

Chapters are contributed by global experts working in this field who have shared their views and personal techniques in a “how I do it” manner, supplemented by high-quality illustrations, both diagrammatic and actual operative photographs.

Chapters cover a variety of MIS procedures in cancer of the head and neck, thyroid, breast, lung, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum, liver, pancreas as well as MIS radical hysterectomy and inguinal lymph node dissection. It also includes a few chapters covering the history of MIS in cancer, pros and cons of MIS, fluorescence imaging and an expert commentary. Each chapter is well-structured and includes - a brief history of the procedure, patient positioning and operating room setup, list of specific instruments/ gadgets used, the operative technique in a detailed stepwise manner, postoperative course and management, complications and personal experience.

The book provides an up-to-date, practical guide for both young and experienced surgeons/ surgical oncologists/surgical gastroenterologists interested in MIS for cancer.
